Junior Playhouse Summer Academy 2011
Our popular Theatre Training Academy provides young people with a dynamic concentrated learning experience in acting and theatre techniques. This is an intensive session for youth who are focused on learning more about the art and process of acting.
To allow greater individual attention, participants will craft their talents and explore new ideas in small groups under the guidance of enthusiastic and supportive theatre professionals and instructors. The goal is for each student to grow in skill and personal confidence, whether on stage or off.
Level 1 - Rising Grades 3-5
June 27-July 1 / 1:00PM-4:30 PM Mon-Fri
A one week program offering beginning level performance techniques with emphasis on basic stage presentation, audition techniques, and music and movement for acting. Instruction is geared toward young performers with little or no experience, utilizing theatre games and improvisational exercises to enhance not only ability, but self confidence. Students will also participate in a team-building mentor program with older students.

Level 2 - Rising Grades 6-8
June 20-July 1/ 1:00PM-4:30 PM Mon-Fri
A two week program providing students an opportunity to explores the "ins and outs" of becoming a "complete" actor. Training is built around scene and character study utilizing theatre games, improvisation, and critical observation. Students will learn to prepare for auditions with offerings of other support skills. This level has the unique opportunity for campers to work with and mentor to other actors within the camp setting.

Level 3 - Rising Grades 9-12
June 20-July 1 / 1:00PM-4:30 PM Mon-Fri
A challenging two week program for the serious student, offering acting, voice, and movement technique for stage performance at an advanced level. Training will utilize improvisation and character study to enhance dramatic imagination, emotional presentation, and self confidence, as well as advanced audition technique. Students at this level will also explore team building through mentoring with other campers.
