JR. PLAYHOUSE SUMMER THEATRE CAMP

Our Junior Playhouse Summer Theatre Camp returns, offering  a chance for young performers to grasp the fundamentals of acting, while exploring the possibilities of theatre.  In our “Little Stars” classes (Rising grades  3-6) we will use improv and theatre based games to enhance our abilities onstage and in front of an audience, to learn how to work within a group of like minded students, and to fully understand the meaning of the word “play”.  In our “Bigger Stars” classes (Rising grades 7-12), we will focus on theatre techniques used across the globe, scene study using both modern and classic texts, and imagination based exercises meant to help the students create their own theatre. These two camps will culminate in a combined Showcase where the students can show off some of what they have learned and created in the past week for both themselves and friends and family.

Students have the option to attend the one-week course either June 10-14 or June 17-21, 8:30 AM  – 12:00 PM for “Little Stars”; 12:30 PM-4:00 PM for “Bigger Stars”.  The cost of camp is $175.

The camp will be held at The Dance Centre of Oak Ridge on Monday-Thursday and at Oak Ridge Playhouse on Friday .
